Where It All Starts...

Building a Resume

One of the most crucial steps in a job search is to have a resume that "sells" your skills. The good news is… you don't have to be alone in this process. OC Recruiting has had high success and expertise in building resumes that sell. The information below, however, will begin putting you in the right "thinking" of how to approach this.

In building the right resume, there are several things to be thinking about and bring into perspective. Some of the things to consider are the following:

  1. Is my resume "user friendly?" Complicated resumes get passed up by managers because they are too difficult to understand, or causes the “eye” to get lost in an undesirable format. Hiring managers and recruiters want to be able to look at a resume in 30 seconds or less and determine quickly if this is something they wish to proceed with.

  2. In today's market place with so much talent available, it is imperative that you "custom tailor" your resume to fit a specific job description. Your recruiter will coach and instruct you on how to do this. Again, you are not alone in this process. We are committed to ensuring every detail is covered.

  3. Do not worry about the old "one page only" concept. Most resume agencies are not "technical staffing professionals" and are not really qualified to give the appropriate advice. A technical staffing professional will have the in-depth experience of having worked with many companies in various levels of technical environments who can give strategic direction of how the resume should look for that specific company.
